With great enthusiasm and pride, we welcome you to the diaspora-led and exclusively-Tanzanian Tourism Expo in America. We could have had our usual 8th traditional diaspora convention, but we decided it needed to be different.
The EXPO could have been a trade and investment show or a forum focused on the development of our social sectors - like we have done twice in the past focusing on health, but we opted to focus on tourism. Here is why.
WHY A TANZANIAN TOURISM EXPO IN USA?
America is a key source market for Tanzania, ranking highest in number of visitors and average spending than any other country in the world, outside Africa. Within Africa, only Kenya and Burundi come higher! Majority of American visitors come to Tanzania for leisure and holiday, followed by volunteering. The Tanzania's tourist market remains largely unexplored, partly because it can be challenging for our suppliers to cover and reach the right buyers due to high marketing costs and geographical scale. Through the CTDA EXPO, we are helping to facilitate a platform to make it easier to bridge the two.
